Topic: Putting Ideas Together For Essay
I met with Andrea today and we went over an essay that she had to write for class. Since we have done this before, I wanted to mix it up a little and ask her to come up with ideas for her essay in a new way. She did not know what she was going to write about yet so we decided to think of her favorite parts of growing up in Venezuela. Andrea thought about many topics and wrote them down on her paper. Then we went about connecting all of the things that fit together. She connected the love of her parents, their favorite family trip together, and her reasons for coming to America. After that, we focused the points down and Andrea was able to clearly write topic sentences for her essay and a good thesis that had to do with the family trip she took that led her to want to study in America. Overall, the session went very well.
