Topic Discussed: Adrien and I
discussed the topic she was researching for an upcoming presentation in class,
the pros and cons of marijuana use.
Cultural and/or linguistic topics
you and your partner learned: Adrien was interested to find out more about how
uninformed people in the U.S. are about the benefits and dangers of marijuana
use. She found in interesting that in the U.S., there are many people who do
not believe marijuana can be addictive. People have a very different view of
marijuana in Venezuela. Adrien gave me the impression that people are perhaps
more responsible when using it recreationally in her country. Comparing the
stakes and consequences of using an illicit substance in the U.S. and Venezuela
was very eye opening for both of us. We came to the conclusion that in the
United States, people are willing to take more risk when it comes to marijuana
use.
