discussed her love of rap music and its connection to poetry.

and your partner learned: I was able to share with Adrien information about the
history of rap music, and how it has influenced culture in the U.S. for years.
I introduced her to influential artists who she was not familiar with. Adrien
also played music from several different Venezuelan rappers. It was interesting
to see how an aspect of U.S. culture has found its way to Venezuela and been changed
to fit the needs and esthetic sense of the people there. She also performed some of her original poems
and raps for me. I enjoyed seeing her use English in a more creative way,
as opposed to her usual academic use of the language.
