Topic: Listening
I met with Karina today and we went over listening. We practiced listening to a short piece and then I had her summarize what she heard. We talked about guitars and how the Spanish guitar was different than the American guitar. Then I gave her a short quiz about the short piece she heard on guitars and, using the information that we talked about, she answered the questions. Karina says that listening and answering comprehension questions is her weakest skill so we spent a lot of time doing the same thing over and over. We practiced quite a bit and Karina felt like she was getting better at comprehending the questions. She said that it was the hardest part of learning English and said that comprehending reading and listening questions was hard for her in Portuguese too. I gave her resources to be able to look up listening exercises on her own as well. Overall, it was a good session.
