Feedback provided to
tutee: Mao Mao was struggling to create summaries of reading materials in
class. After practicing with him, it became clear that he did not make a habit
of taking notes while reading. I advised him to take short notes after reading
each paragraph to make summarizing faster, and to help him remember details of
the reading materials.
Lesson(s) about tutoring
and/or the tutee you learned: I learned more about the importance of ensuring
that the provided materials are level appropriate. The story that I provided to
Mao Mao for practice was slightly too difficult. This made summarizing and note
taking a more difficult and time-consuming task for him.
